Tournament Rules

• Each team must be comprised of four golfers for $120.
• Each team must have a designated driver (either a participating golfer or a fifth non-putting individual).
• Each golfer must be 21 years of age or older to participate (IDs will be checked at the Coop or Eagles).
• Putters and balls will be provided…Therefore, personal putters are not allowed…Putters are not to be removed from its designated hole.
• Drunken, loud, or disruptive behavior can be grounds for disqualification.
• All fourteen holes must be completed during the time period allotted if you want to be eligible for a prize.
• Any violation of the tournament rules will result in removal from the tournament and any registration fees will be forfeited.
• Mulligans only available for purchase with pre-registration.

Who Are the Jaycees?

The Jaycees is an international organization that provides leadership skills through community service.

Jaycees can be found in all walks of life: governmental leaders such as past Presidents Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy, business tycoons such as Dominos Pizza mogul Tom Monaghan, registered nurse and former Miss America Kaye Lani Rae Rafko-Wilson, sports heroes like basketball great Larry Bird; name the field and Jaycees can be found at the forefront.

With the focus of the nation on volunteerism, from the smallest towns to the largest cities, the Jaycees are expanding areas of opportunity for young people.

Then come out to Kearney for 3rd Quarter Convention on November 9th-11th! We will be tailgating and showing our team spirit for this convention!

1. Elections!  -  The 2013 Nebraska Jaycees State Elections will take place, with a contested race for President!

7. Impact!  -  We will have a Toy Drive to benefit make help underprivileged families in the Kearney community!
8. Trainings and Contests!  -  During the Tailgating Party we will have lots of fun mini trainings and contests, as well as our area trainings to help finish the year strong!
9. Awards!  -  Chapters, projects, and members from across the state will be recognized for their outstanding efforts. This includes special awards such as Top Supporter, Governorships, and Senatorships!
10. Get Motivated!  -  Attend Fellowship service, listen to motivating speeches throughout the weekend, and attend the Excitement Seminar to get pumped up!

Two different communities hosting similar events share one common goal; raising awareness and money for two separate illnesses.

About 90 runners gathered at Kearney’s Yanney Park Saturday morning braving the cold weather for the Fearless 5k run.

This new event, put on by the Kearney Jaycees raises money to help patients at Kearney’s Cancer Center receive basic needs that they may not be able to get themselves.

“People in the community have cancer, unfortunately it’s everywhere,” said Fearless 5k Co-organizer Stacy Henning. “The Kearney Tackles Cancer group focuses on people here locally and filter the money back through helping people paying for treatments, travel for their treatments and stuff like that.”

Over in Bertrand, community members were heading indoors to take the next step to fight type one diabetes.

Bertrand’s school system only has 250 students; five of whom have the disease, and another five to ten community members have it as well.

These numbers are the motivating factors to spread the awareness in town.

“A lot of students, a lot of adults don’t understand what diabetes is, how to support people with diabetes,” said Bertrand School Counselor Kim Johnson. “And so that’s another thing that we try to raise the awareness for the community of Bertrand as well as for our school and students.”

Portions of the Fearless 5k will go towards the Kearney Tackles Cancer group, and approximately $1,800 raised in Bertrand will help with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

REPORTER’S NOTES: Bertrand’s fundraising efforts of approximately $1,800 during the October 27 Diabetes Walk, combined with previous T-shirt sales from September’s “gray out” volleyball game against Axtell in which both communities participated, has garnered nearly $4,000 to help the fight against type one diabetes.

Please give all of the volunteers who worked at each hole a big round of applause for all of their hard work in making this year such a success!

Kearney Jaycees Volunteers at the Cottontail Scramble 2012

The 2012 Cottontail Scramble was held Saturday, April 7th at Centennial Park in Kearney.

Each year the Kearney Jaycees co-hosts the annual Cottontail Scramble in conjunction with Kearney Parks and Recreation. Hundreds of pounds of candy are scattered throughout the park for area children each year. While the scramble for candy only lasts minutes, the anticipation starts hours before.
